Oh Fan…you’re exquisite—your brightly colored front doors grace the entryways of the beautifully restored Row houses; These colors…these homes, and their inviting hues, they call to me…showcasing vibrantly colored plants and flowers, and incredible architecture. Your tree-lined streets with all their history, and ethnicity—you had me at calling yourself “The Fan”, that iconic staple that a true Southern Belle cools herself with on a hot summer day. Fan, your monuments remind us of our roots, and how far we’ve come to solidify our diversity among our neighbors. Your classic fine dining and your staple neighborhood restaurants speak to my soul. From the “bathtub” salad bar at Strawberry St. Café filled to the brim with fresh fruits and veggies that scream, “Pick Me!” to the local watering hole, the Star-Lite Lounge who’s atmosphere encompasses our favorite 80s sitcom, Cheers and it seems that everyone knows your name. Oh Fan, your walkable streets with their young moms pushing their smocked and monogrammed clad babes in their strollers, to the hipsters whose art and ideas hang on the walls of local galleries, restaurants and businesses, and the students whose dreams we can sense whenever they walk by.
